No Gas on May 15th

Body: Don't pump gas on may 15th
Body: ...in April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all Internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the Internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil company's pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.
If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldn't) resend this to all your contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th"

back in the 70's when it went from .35 to .78, people were freaking out and many stopped driving..........
consumption fell
today everybody is using more than ever and just paying whatever.

i think a lot are putting it on credit cards and just paying the minimum anyway, so it really is not a factor like it was 30 years ago.

That will never work, they just going to buy the next day!!

Look at the prices, that has not stoped anyone from driving there trucks, suv, van, boats ect ect... And thats me included :(

You need more then a day to hurt these guys!! they making BILLIONS in profits, and can out last us any day!!

$30 to $50 to fill up. wish!! Dead empty today spent $2.94 gal, $67 to fill :'(

The only way that would even work is if everyone decided not to drive that day then it would effect them some. Just filling up the day before or the day after is not going to effect them because the gas was still consumed on that day. I'll do it just to play along. I think if they did this on a Sunday and encouraged people not to consume gas on that day it might have a bigger impact. If I'm correct the one back in 1997 was done on a weekend and people where encouraged not to drive.

I agree with all of ya'll, it won't accomplish anything and everyone will buy it before or after. But I'm in, hell nothing like making statement even if on deaf ears.

I'm not going to buy gas on May 15th,
I will be in Japan. ;D
But besides that I always buy my gas on a Monday morning,
when I stop for my lottery tickets.

Instead of buying $30 - $50 worth of gas on the 15th, everyone buy $30 - $50 worth of ammo, that'll make a statement. :) :) :)
