I noticed that Verados were mentioned in a fishing thread. I fished a 2006 Angler 21 WA with a 150 Verado yesterdat. Nice boat and awesome power. The Verado system is really something. Running 3800 r's at 25 mph and burning 5.8 to 6 gph. While that was nice the part that impressed me, nah, blew me away, was that it trolled at 2.5 knots at get this, .3 gallons per hour. THan dang thing will fish for an hour on 2 cups of friggin coffee. As for the boat, it was nice but I'll keep my V20.
Now the other boat is a 2005 Grady 282 Sailfish that the owner ordered new and told them to keep the Yams. Merc bent over backward to get once of the very first pairs of 250's on that boat. It's nice having a great Merc dealer as a friend / neighbor. Anyhow, the twin 250's are no louder than the single 150. Awesome machine but outa my league. I have operated that boat for maybe 15 hours and it a pleasure to fish. The said part is, the Verado 150 weighs 539 pounds dry. My good friend and neighbor knows that my next motor will likely be the Suzy 150 / 175 becasue of the weight issue. That, and I don't believe that the Verado is a motor to buy and keep for ten years. While I love them now, when a motor with that little displacement with those boost pressures goes boom, it's gonna be expensive. Airslot

Well I have heard good and bad about the ne merc. But I have never liked them and I won't start now.
But I have been hearing lots of good things about the new Suzy! I know a guy that bought his last year and he has nothing but great things to say about it!! As for me, I have been a Johnson/Yamaha guy for a long time! That said as much as I like Yamaha, n they are just way over priced IMO!! Not that I can afford a new motor in the first place!! I can't afford a used motor But if I had a wish list I guess it would be a 150 to 200 Johnson, Yamaha or Suzy

A guy down the creek from me has a new Mako 19 Angler with a Verado 150 on it . A VERY expensive , heavy, low cubic inch, computer complicated engine loaded with all the bells and whistles including power steering , supercharged this and that etc. It gets outstanding gas mileage at low to mid throttle but if you run it flat out its a gas hog. In my opinion this is what Mercury will probably end up with as their only big engine in a couple of years as the Opti started off on the wrong foot and burned a lot of guys (me included) and has not caught on plus Mercury has still got a bad reputation regarding warranty claims and service..I hope they get their act together and hang in there but I will never buy another merc as I had major problelms with the three I've had plus poor customer service..The good news is that there will be a supply of low hour 2 strokes for sale for a few years that probably just need the carbs cleaned for a fourth of the price of a new 4 stroke that few mechanics feel comfortable working on...I also know a guy with a new Suzuki 250 four stroke on his 20 foot whaler and he loves it. Its quiet, excellent gas mileage , very high cubic inch but heavy and sits right at the scupper line but a nice running motor and I see more and more of them every day. This guy had had a 1998 225 Johnny ocean runner on it that had less than 400 hours which to me was just about broken in...Just my opinion ...Frank

problem i've heard with the supercharged motor is not only does it suck in air and force it in the motor but also SALT air and spray and force salt into the motor and them after you let sit they are seized up 6 months later.

I also understand from a mechanic friend that if you run em out of gas they will blow up in hundreds of pieces...Frank

I've been out fishing a few times in my friends seacraft23 with the new 250 Suzuki. That motor blows my mind everytime I ride in the boat. Quiet, super efficent, and has unbelieveable hole shot (with the low ratio and big prop)
I bet the zuke 150/175 would be an awesome combo on the v20.
