| First Fluke of the year!

Yesterday was opening day of Fluke season here in Ma. I will start with the I forgot the camera thing, cause there is no pictures. Headed out of Falmouth boat ramp, 8 mph SW wind and flat as a pancake! I opened up the boat, with a full load of gas and all gear with 2 people aboard and a little trimming I got her to 36 knt. But with the gas prices and not liking to run full out I pulled back a little, she really sounds nice and seems to like the 22 to 26 knt range and thats were I left it. Got to the fish had about 100 yards of visabilty do to the fog. When we get there it was just slack tide, which really sucks as this place takes like 2 hours to get running. We started to fish, pick one here and one there while we are waiting. You can and I have trolled real slow while slack and pick up some nice fish, but again with the gas prices I was going to do it for the few I would get. So the tide changes and we were off, started to get them pretty good, nothing huge but all keepers. then the bite was off? Moved to a few more spots and it was on and off like this the hole day and it was for everyone else also? By noon we were back to slack and time to ride over to a friends boat, we tied up toghter and eat are lunch and had some good talk. Then I pulled the hose from the new wash down and coled things down a bit! LOL Get back to the ramp and off to the fish house, all the totes were the same, 55 pounds, 80 pounds, 37 pounds, My friends Emil $ Richy had 80 on the nose, I weight in at 78, man did them guys go wild!! see we have all been fishing toghter for about 12 years now and this is the first time they beat me in the weigh in. They yelling we beat Maco we beat Maco!! It was great!! Very slow day for Opening day!! I am going back out of Thursday and see whats what?? But next week we going to slam them!! with a better tide and getting closer to the moon I think next week will mean maxed out coolers!! Thye fun has begun!!!

FWB - I think MJ does most of his catching in deep water. I'm curious to know if any fish are to be had in the shallows. What type of lights do you use if you don't mind me asking (and if MJ doesn't mind me sliding that question into his thread :-))
