Yeah baby !!!!! That's what I was waiting to see. Thanks for sharing Vic - the boat looks great. I will be painting a V20 which is brand new to me ... and was thinking that exact same color scheme. Can you share any of your experiences with the painting ?? Did you get it sprayed ... or roll and tip yourself ? Would love to hear all about it. How did you clean up the bottom paint ... or was it never painted ? I cant wait to share some restoration pics of my own .... but I am 3-4 months behind your schedule !

Thank you very much. We are naming her Fishfull Thinkin' since thats whats been keeping us going through the process. I would definitely recommend awlgrip to anyone that wants to roll paint onto a boat used the brushing reducer and didnt really need to tip. Just reduced it 10% instead of 25% and the roller did the rest, unbelievable, really. It smoothed out like it was sprayed everywhere. Has anyone ever heard of using awlgrip on the bottom? I'm trying to keep the bottom white and haven't seen any white bottom paint. Got till next year for that though. We're done. Time for the fish blood test.

Brian, we sanded all the gellcoat that we were painting down with 150grit paper and a palm sander. Then put the awlgrip epoxy primer everywhere, then we painted the awlgrip on top of the primer. You have to put it on in thin coats because it will bubble where you are too thick, we just sanded with 220 to get a few runs out in spots on the first coat then I decided to only reduce it about 10% instead of the package instructions and it tacked out quicker and had less runs. You can work the paint for about an hour with a china brisle but you just push it around like rubber until you get any runs, bugs, leaves, or whatever out.

Vic, I wont drag your post down with lots of application questions - but just one more please. Did you use the original Awlgrip, the new Awlgrip 2, or the Awlcraft2000 paint ? I am torn between the Fighting Lady Yellow (which I like) and the Seafoam green (which everyone I ask seems to like). Brian ps .... from what I have read ... you dont want to use the Awlgrip on the bottom if you leave the boat in the water for more than 1 week at a time. Something to do with bubbling of the paint. I am looking at a paint for the bottom called VC Performance from Interlux. Comes in bright white - cures extra hard (good for trailered boats) - and is ok for full time below the waterline application.

SWEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o Looks Awesome! I hate to jump on the band wagon, but I'm planning onpainting my hull the same color also, with black boot stripe and black canvas. Did you do the topsie also? I'm curious to see what Awlgrip you used. A freind of mine recomends spraying the Awlcraft 2000. Thanks, Scott
