Default Scubber ???

I guess you cal them scubbers ???, the drain plugs/ vents on the side of teh boat. My v-20 has a old rusted out wash down that I am pulling out along with a water pump that fills the bait well. When I yank them out, do they sell plugs or caps for the open/exposed scubbers/ valves ???
Thanks,
Mike.

At first I thought you said "scrubber" like some kind of scrub brush, lol.

They are actually called "scuppers". Scuppers are on the transom and for the self draining of your deck. The holes on the sides are "thru hulls" Are you sure that's a livewell pump and not your bilge pump. Your bilge bump should pump out one of those thru hulls on the side, make sure you don't plug that one.

If that is your livewell thru hull, I wouldn't plug it either. It's a good and safe practice to run 2 bilge pumps, use the livewell thru hull for that.

Or am I totally wrong here too??? ;D

Tin, it's true I haven't been everywhere and seen everything, but I ain't NEVER seen a bilge pump run thru a scupper...nor would I be comfortable lettin' scuppers handle what gets pumped outta the bilge...

Bilge pump should have it's own thru-hull fitting, well above waterline...

Hammer, you'd best replace scuppers w/new...if the factory put 'em there, it's cause your's is a self-bailing hull and NEEDS them...what year your V20?...

Actually your right, but I think what he was calling scubbers is the thru hulls on the side, no?

Oh....Scuppers : )
Learning the new boating slang : )
yes, It's the live well pump and also the pump that washs the deck down. Neither work, so i wanted to some how plug them. Mainly the wash down, that comes up from the bottom, "vary bottom of the hull.
The guy I bought if from didnt even have any hose clamps attatched to the hose. That would have been a quick sink for my first trial run ! : ) My v-20 is a 1986 with a 200 Black Max.
Mike.

I inherited two thru-hull fittings when I got mine...be sure the fitting itself is water-tight, leave about 3-4'' of hose, find a suitable plug for hose, insert plug and double clamp w/ stainless steele hose clamps...did mine years ago, w/nary a drop leaked since... ;)...

Different opinions about this, but if that Merc were mine, I'd DISCONNECT the automatic oiling system and pre-mix oil/gas...easily done w/an Accu-Mix bottle ($3.99)...there's some history on those auto-oilers failing, which of course will TOAST your 200... :o...
