Default Got the NEW Power pack today!

Ok, I got the power pack today and I have installed it!! I am going to get out tomorrow or Monday for the test run.

Keep the fingers and toes crossed for me!! :-/

If still the same I wil run back in to he ramp and replace the other with the one I took off and hope that is it?

If thats not it I will unbolt the motor and drop it in the water were it sits!!

Got it off ebay with shipping for $43 Brand New OMC part ;D

Good luck bud...if you need anymore parts I have used these folks several times for Pp, stators, starters, etc.... with great results. They always have awesome prices and quality "used" parts. I say "used" cause everytime I get something I cant tell its not new. :-/

if you throw the motor over board how will you get home should i change the settings of my bigboats auto pilot to come get you and then go down to florida ;D ;D with willy and all his girls

there are specific test to check a stator, but you have to have a peak voltage adaptor to check them, you can go to rapair.com to check on the adaptor and to go thru the test sequince. So other hints to check is to check the sator lead with an ohm meter, check for resistance to ground and to check for an open circut between wires( can't remember which color) . Another thing to do is loook under the flywheel and see if there is any brown goo laying on the top of the motor, its an idication of the stator overheating, it melts the potting out of the stator. What year model and HP are you working with, when i get back to work Mon, I'll see if I have a manual for your engine.

1988 Evinrude 175 hp, I can't read the model or serial numbers??

I am not sure thats even it I have been told by a few different people to try the power pack first?
