Default thru hulls

what kind of thru hull is best for below the waterline.i have plastic rerko's in now,but i don't know how old they are.do brass ones have to be painted? is stainless better?the plastic ones i see say not for use below the waterline.what do ya think.

STAINLESS on all Looks better and will out last the boat.

all of our big boats come with bronze(or some alloy of it) don't know why they don't use stainless( maybee to many different metals in teh water to cause electrolisis), every time we pull a boat, the paint is usually gone off teh thru hull

Try boatfix.com for ss thru hulls. I got four from them and the price was excellent.

boatfix is good but you may get lucky i bought 50 new 1 1/4 ss perko thru hulls for $10 shipped off ebay. i kept the few i needed then sold the rest back on ebay for $3.50 each ;D
