Default 4hp Merc

A garage sale i stopped at today a guy had a 4hp merc appeared to be 1982 or close. Said it ran, I pulled the cord and it had good compression. Will a 4hp be enough to get you home on a v20. Price was $175.00 but if it wont do the job, might has well be free...

Zebra, as long as that props turnin' and it's in the water, barring strong current or wind, it'll get you home...as long as you've got plenty of time to get there...you might wanna keep lookin' for 10-15 HP kicker at min... ;) :)...

Well I found a 9.8 Nissan with pull and electric start long shaft they say 10 hrs who knows for sure , 2001 for $650. Its clean and im happy... Runs clean and nice... Whats the best way to connect the kicker to the main so can steer from helm. Also got a 3 gal tank but wanna tee the motor in with main fuel tank.

Zebra, don't T into main tank...one idea of having a kicker is that it's a TOTALLY SEPERATE means of propulsion...in case main tank gets contaminated (or gone) or fuel line becomes unusable...keep a different tank and freshen the gas from time to time (pour it in the main tank and refill)...

E-Z Steer will do your steering from the helm...in Cabelas for 180.00... ;)...

Ya know...T in for extended trollin' or "intentional use", but for emergency use, keep seperate tank... ;)

hey Z put a T in but have a cut off at it so you can run with it off then put another T in and run a hose off it to another cut off but make that where you can hook up a 6 gal deck tank so you can have a seperate way to get you home if needed.
