Default which engine is better

i might drop in a new engine next summer these are the ones i am considering
which one is better?? i have an eighty niner v20.

well the 5.0 is a fuel injection motor the 5.7 is carbed. but the 5.0 is a Ford i think ??? I'd want fuel injection but not a Ford.

I thought Mercruiser 5.0L were 305 c.i.d. Chebby motors, mine is.

some are but look at that one has distributor on the wrong end to be a chevy. But could be a file pic. call and ask them which one it is? The thing is most likely the 5.7 will be a 4 bolt main and that 5.0 will not be.

or if you dont like the ones i picked tell me what you think is good

is going the max hp the best or should i stay a little lower like 220 or somthing

the max is 260 hp.

you could get a 454 ci 330 HP, we have had one posted on this site with a BBC 454 before.

Not to be stubborn or anything like that, but it looks like the spark plug wires are coming from the back to me. They are blue in the pic. There is so much stuff mounted to that thing that you can't see a distributor.
