| 8/28/07 Block Island trip with Pics

We started out late and didn't launch until 9 AM. Got out to Block Island at 9:45 and joined in the armada of boats fishing the south side of the island. We drift fished eels for some stripers and did that unsuccessful for two and a half hours without one single hit. We then started trolling around the island with umbrella rigs and nothing. It was like the ocean was dead. We stopped by a few boats and asked how they were doing and it was the same story, ZILCH. *:-/ * We gave it hell somemore and by 1 PM we decided to head over to Charlestown Breachway for some fluke. We did get two keepers but that was it. All in all it was a gorgeous day on the water despite the lack of fish and we ended up putting on 45.3 miles total from start to finish. Block Island is beautiful and at least now we will know where to go next time. Here are some pics of our day. coming in to Block Island Fancy house up on the cliff Talk about a view! Trolling with umbrella rigs around the island My first mate Larry at the helm This is the new Block Island Ferry boat, it is a catamaran hull and it flies! the boat was throwing a rooster tail at least 150 feet back and what a wake! bye-bye Block Island *;D
