Default RETIREMENT

Come January 2 that will be my last visit to NNSY (Norfolk Naval Shipyard). I've been making that 55minute trip for 33yrs and 3 months and I'm finally going to make like a cow patty.

I can't say it's been fun but it has been stupid most of the time.

This will let me devote more time to my landscaping business and fishing.

The wifey still has to make that trip, she's not as old as I am and she works for PET Milk Company, so the retirement isn't 55yrs old.

NNSY shuts down from xmas to 2 of January.

I haven't told my boss yet, I asked him only 1 question, if he'd like me to stay, all he had to do was give me a raise and he said he'd get back to me. That was in June and still no answer. So he'll find out Jan 2 when I hand him my checkout sheet as I'm walking out the door.

good luck to you, I hope everything goes as you want in your retirement, I know about leaving a long time career and it is hard to do sometimes, but you know when it is time and once you do its the best thing, I would not change a thing.
All the best to you ;)

You'll enjoy every minute of your retirement. I did it July 1st at 59. My wife retired at the same time. I have a fishing charter business and she's just kickin' back. It's a good feeling when you only have one boss (the wife).
Just think, nobody can tell you what to do, where to be and what time you need to be there, but you (then again, let's not forget the wife). Good luck and enjoy life.

Congrats on your retirement GNC!!!

Thank you for serving us for 33+ years, keeping the Navy ready to go.

I know you will enjoy your retirement living where you do. Maybe if I ever get a couple of days, I'll come down and go fishing w/ ya.
