This is probably a topic that has been beat to death, but is there a link or a previous thread that breaks down the difference in prop types?
The bigger the prop the better the ….. The smaller the prop …… 3 vs. 4 props, those types of stats? Thanks again!

Take a look at rick's post on props in the Performance Section...couple of very informative items there... ;) ...
Go thru all pages in Performance sec...on 2nd page, Tin Man's got a GREAT write-up on proppin' a motor... ;) ... Good luck and let us know how you come out...what are you tryin' to do?...more top-end...better hole shot?...

Ok for the hell of it here we go
I run a 15 1/4 *X 15 prop, I like my boat to get out the hole faster, It also moves the water under a boat with alot of weight. I comercial fish and with 500# fish, 2 or 3 guy's another 700# *plus all the gear and gas I need it!! But I lose on the top end, and go slower, which I could care less about, I top out at 35 to 39 mph ------------------------------------------------------------------- Now I use to run a 15 X 17 and I would hit 40+ mph!! *But then I lost on the lower end, and was a dog out the hole, and took longer to plain out with all the weight in the boat. -------------------------------------------------------------------- So first off you need to ask yourself what do you want your boat to do?? After you figure that out you can call a local prop shop or a good mariner and tell him what you have for a boat, motor, the weight of the boat, *gas, ect ect.. Tell him you need more torq out the hole, or you have a need for speed. They are pretty good and can get you close to what you need. My mariner recomended a size and I bought it and they let me go on a test run and I then brought the prop back and went down a size and was right were I wanted to be. I am pretty sure most here run a 17 pitch with good results!! *I just needed to be different. Good luck!!
