I have been bring my boat camping with me for 10 years now when we go camping in Wareham!! We have neer had any problems!
Till now~! >:( My boat has been down there since last tue.
I went down there yesterday afternoon after working a 36 hour stright shift!! and 5 hours of schooling fr the job, total 41 hours from 12 midnight Sun to 2 pm on Tue!
I thought I would have a nice day on the water today the only day I have off till next Wed.
Got to the boat hooked it up and went to put my rods in and BAM! No fish Finder (Lowrance X 71 1 season old) No GPS (Garmin 12 Handheld) with all the fishing # in the last 5 years!! No flare guns, tools, Aftco gaff, a made by me 1 season old Lami Glass wire rod with a Penn 114 full with wire, 1 tackle box with 15 cape cod jigs for jigging, 6 bags of Ledge Runner's I just bought!!

And just to be a$$hole's they took the only key I hd for the motor out of the ignition so I can't even start the boat!! :'( :'(

Ok I have cryed long anough!!

really sorry to hear that MJ.
that can ruin a season for sure. i hope you filed a police report. it may turn something up.

may those rods never catch fish again(unless they find their way back to you). hopefully the gps batteries will die and get those a--holes lost real good.

also, you can get a new keyswitch and key pretty cheap. you have a 89 yammy, i think they are about 60- 100 bucks depending on which control you have.

MJ - that suxs . . . I hope you find the people in a dark alley.

If you want . . . I can loan you my GPS garmin 76map handheld with the cape cod blue charts for the summer. I won't be using it until my boat is done (it's got my secret fluke and cod spots). Let me know . . . if you want to borrow it and I'll send it out tomorrow.

Ain't nothin' worse than a liar and a thief!!! If they got your key, then they are comin' BACK! Is your boat in the water?...even if not, they're plannin' a return trip...if you got time, start checkin' around pawn shops and flea markets...theft like yours is what fuels those businesses...it's why I refuse to shop 'em!

I met a security man for the Army Corps of Engineers, lived on the lake, boat got cleaned out overnite, including key...later they came back and got the boat!

Can't leave stuff in the boat no more...too many drug fools around

MJ,

That is the worst. I hope you have insurance and will be able to upgrade your equip. I am a LEO and urge you to file a police report if you haven't already. Sometimes the police are able to link cases and sometimes get your gear back to you.
Did other folks near you get broken into as well ? I would be concerned about your key being missing. I would make my boat harder to steal by re-keying it or at least installing a hidden switch somewhere.
The pawn shop advice is sound. Be careful though, don't go in telling them you're looking for your stuff. Lots of pawn brokers know the stuff they are getting is hot, they will simply tell you that they don't have it. Instead be a "buyer" and see what they have.
Good luck and don't worry, the vermin that stole your stuff will pay sooner or later.

Sorry about your stuff, MJ. I agree that there's nothing worse than a thief who is too lazy to work and get their own stuff. I'd watch ebay too. I like ebay, but I'm sure there are plenty of thieves out there. If anyone else had their stuff stolen, you could get a list together and start looking for the punk selling it. And he will try to sell it.

MJ, if I have this straight -- your boat is sitting on that nice new trailer in some kind of campground, while you were elsewhere. It got robbed of lots of goodies by a person or persons unknown to you. The key is also gone.

If you haven't already, you need to get your rig the hell out of there right away. The dirtbag who robbed you is probably planning on returning with someone with a truck to haul away your trailer. They will separate your boat and maybe ditch it where it will take a while to find - maybe after yankin the engine. YOUR BOAT ON A TRAILER WOULD BE EASY TO SPOT -- BOAT OFF THE TRAILER -- THAT TRAILER MELTS INTO THE SCENARY --GOODBYE TRAILER.

Do the report thing, check the pawn shops, ebay and keep your ear to the ground.

It sux big time. :'( Learn from the experience.

The boat came home the night I found the stuff gone.
I was else were but my family was there the hole time. An I was there the night before this was found. My daughter went and got a net out of the boat at 7 the night before and I found the stuff at 2 the next afternoon.
As for comming back for the boat, no way! They would have to work on the 2 locks I have one easy cable and lock around the wheel and frame. The other a full covering coupler lock. Now I am sure they could get the locks off but not with out a ton of noise!!
Then they haveto take it out the front gate as the rear gate it would never fit.

O well whats done is done!! I have a new Chart Ploter on the way, and a new Fish Finder, both should be here by the end of next week.
I will be shopping this week for a new flare gun and some new tackle. I will have everything replaced by this time next week!
Exception, My GPS numbers!! This is the big loss here!! I have very few backed up and have lost some real nice fish spots!! But that to will return as time goes on and faster this time as I no were I am heading so all I have to do is fine tune them.

Good move to get it right outa there.

Good point about backin stuff up -- I oughta do that.

I was thinkin how much fun it would be to leave your trailer there, but with some kind of lojac type tracking device.

Oh well, I guess it coulda been worse. :-/
