Has anyone come up with a good solution for mounting electronics on their steplift? I'd love to see what solutions other people have come up with.

Not a lot of room there! Those flat surfaces behind the steering wheel could possibly fit flush mount electronics. And even that flat shelf in front of the gauges would possibly allow you to vertically flush mount a VHF Radio. My buddy has the same layout on his steplift. He's battling the same dilema. He mounted his fishfinder on the left (passenger) console close to the sliding hatch and aimed it at the helm. His thinking was that once the fishfinder is on, he doesn't really change settings all that much. Good luck with that one. I've got more room on my center console to play around with.

Bigshrimpin, I have a 89 V- Step and mounted A Simrad CP-32 color ploter 10"x6"x3"D to the right between steering wheel and gauge panel and angled slightly towards driver. does block looking straight on at fuel gauge a little but not a problem. Fish finder Lowerance X-85 mounted on top of console to left of compass angled at driver. Ray Marine 53 radio mounted to underside front deck right side close to bulk head and at slight angle to driver, speaker is mounted above tried to keep away from compass. Speaker and radio are mounted about were everyone else mounts fish finders on the right side. This lets me stretch Mic cord and clip on driver console. With sliding hatch cover (first section) I can have it back about 4" and see radio or close completely and keep all water of radio. This keeps everthing close , easy to use, and radio mic with DCS switch close at hand. Anyone MOUNTING ANYTHING NEAR YOUR COMPASS make sure it does not change you readings . You can have it adjusted ( Boxed) for some deviation. Crusher

I took a piece of lexan, cut a strip about 3 1/2 inches widw and probably 14 inches long, clamped it between two boards and clamped a third piece on the end sticking out. I took a heat gun and heated it till it bent 90 degrees from it's own weight. I drilled mounting holes for my gps mount and secured it to the side on my console. I drilled a hole thru both and installed a power outlet (polarized plug) to power it up. works pretty well for only a couple of bucks.

Have you looked into Ram mounts?? That will be your best bet I think??
I guess I like my dash better! I thought I would like the newer V20's for dash space, but after seeing this I like mine better. Thats one of the few things I hate about these boats!

Thanks for the tip, the have a bunch of different styles. Just didn't hane that many surfaces to mount much, they built it kinda tight for adding goodies. Your dash and mine are a bit different also

Different dashes for sure, but here's my solution...
![]() BS, if I were faced with that dash to redo, I'd look reel hard at this: imagine a flat surface instead of the "step-out" you have now...single piece of Starboard, milled nicely to fit laying from top of existing surface(just under compass)angled down to outter edge of step-out(just behind wheel)...then fill in angles on each side...that way, it's one flat surface w/ plenty of room to surface mount electronics, switch panels, gauges , etc...router edges for a factory- finished look !/4" round-over looks good...IMHO... ;) ;D... Yeah...F1's dash looks like what I'm talkin' about...single, more angled surface, but you'd have no black plate backing ...all white mounting surface... ;) ;D

My dash looks like this:
![]() I made the starboard frame to replace the teak that is shown in Franco's pic. I have a Garmin 180 and 240 ff. I have mounted the brackets like macojoe. BUT, I am having second thoughts now. I really want the electronics flush mounted. The total area of the frame I made is 19'' by 11''. ( however, this overlaps the cutout in the fiberglass dash area.) The garmin 180 is 6.25 by 6 inches, the 240 is 6.25 by 5 inches. I have a 4inch tach, and the fuel, water and volt gaguges are 2.25 inches. I'm thinking of picking up a pc of starboard and going for it. |
