Rap,
I just got back from a test drive with a buddy on a boat he's looking to buy. The boat has a 2000 130hp Honda on it. I was amazed how quiet this thing was, awesome. My question is, the motor seemed to make a slight "whirling" noise in nuetral, the lady said that it has always made that noise. It wasn't loud, but it didn't make the noise in gear. The engine has 5 more years on the warrenty. I was wondering if yours made any such a noise. If anyone else knows anything about this please chime in. Thanks, Scott

Nephew has a 130 hp on a 24' proline in the Big Bend area of Florida. He runs fishing and scallop trips and has approaching 2500 hrs on his without a minutes worth of problems.

Shicks, not sure what the "whirling" noise is...haven't noticed it on mine...like Seacrets, I've got a buddy w/a 130 and lotta hours pain-free...as quiet as these motors are, you might be hearing flywheel or something spinning that a noisier motor would cover up...if he's really concerned about it, try to have a Honda tech check it out, which, honestly, I'd have done to ANY used motor before buying, including compression check...warranty or not... ;) :)...
