Default Arch / motor/ boat show stuff....

Went to the OC boat show last night. *Good show overall. *My wife is still in love w/ the Sea Hunt and would sign off on one today if I could swallow spending (borrowing) 30k. *I like my boats paid for. *The good news that came out of the show for me was the Suzuki's. *Quoted 10,900 for 150 and 11,900 for the 175. *Prices included all controls, gauges, rigging, and installation. *didn't ask about prop but thats alright. *If mine goes boom this year thats my answer. *I did run the boat Thursday and it ran like a dream so.....

On the downside, the arch/top that I wanted just isn't realistic, at least from the guy I talked to. *They were talking 3600 for the arch, top, curtains that I wanted. *Later conversation revealed that a hardtop would be the same price.

It's snowing here right now but when I go home I'll pat my V-20 on the stern and tell her that while I may have been admiring others, she's still my true love....

Edited to add: Wellcraft had a 22'er that would compare to the V-20 dual console model. The 22 was actually 20'8" and, with Yam 200 4-stroke and trailer was offered for a boat show special of only...

$49,995.00

YeeeeHaaaa

I think those Suzi's are the way to go. They're coming out with a 300hp 4 stroke this year.

Rap, I was thinkin the same thing. Only concern is that the extra 25 ponies apparently show up from 5500 to 6100 revs, not somewhere I operate very often. I'm wondering how difference there is on the bottom end.

Holeshot might be a little better, but more ponies usually shows up in a boat's ability to cruise at lower RPMs which doesn't work the motor as hard, sometimes leading to fuel savings... ;) 8)...

The only differences between Suzi's 150 and 175 are:

1. The 175 has variable valve timing.
2. The 150 is rated 5000-6000 rpm's whereas the 175 is rated 5500 - 6100.

Those facts cause me to wonder if the performance won't be dead equal bottom end and only start to seperate whaere the variable timing kicks in? The fuel map is probably slightly different, but I'm thinking that holeshot may be marginally better with the 150? What the H#ll, the price difference is only 1g, if it weren't for the fact that the 200 weighed 100#'s more I'd look at that too.

Next great debate is whether or not I leave my transom at 20's or build it too 25".
