Default 1974 v20 wellcraft

I saw my 1st V20 wellcraft in person a couple days ago. I have been a member of the sight for months and have seen pictures of many of these boat but seeing one in person really makes me understand why this site exists. The boat I saw, a late 1970's V20 had a nice hull and sat nicely on the trailer. There was plenty of room to fish. The boat seemed like it was just the right size not too large or too small. My only question about this boat is the floor seemed weak around the gas tank. The rest of floor seemed solid but not around the gas tank. Is this a major problem? The boat was a good price had a hardtop. But it a 155hp evinrude.

I really like my 23' Wellcraft Center Console but the boat is extremely large and is somewhat diffcult to launch alone. That seadrive on the back of my boat worries me. But I know with a new stroke and a bracket I will be one of the nicest boats around.

The hatch that cover the gas tank is notorious for getting soft, the good news is thats its a simple repair. One or two afternoons andd some elbow grease. If everything else is in good shape its a great boat. Plenty of advice available on how to fix it!!! Good luck!!

I would have thought a 74' would have 2-20 gallon saddle tanks, maybe someone can confirm. If so, maybe the deck has been cut out and one installed below.

deshet, your post is somewhat confusin'...header says '74, then text refers to ''late 70s''...'74 had side tanks, belly-tanks were late 70s improvement...we just had a good post onfixin' hatches...if the motor's got good compression test numbers, go for it... ;) :D...

I've got a 76 V20 saddle tanks, etc. I have had the boat since 1990; got it in Maine. I have always liked the ride and seaworthyness. I have been out in some rough weather. Tempted to get a Grady-White but I think the V20 has a better ride and more seaworthy???
