Fuel tank ?

Any experience on how long the PLASTIC fuel tank lasts ?

Most likely my 1996 V21 poly fuel tank is original.

My old Mako had aluminum tank that developed pin hole within the usual 10-15 years
Replaced that by lifting console etc, but with V21 would require cutting deck .

Should outlast you. It's under the deck so not harmed by the suns rays like normal plastic is. It's a polycarbonate tank. (Usually Polyethylene) As you know, my V21 is also a 96 and I'd think we have no worries Green. When I had the deck off my V a few years back it looked 100% perfect. Poly tanks are impervious to the chemicals in modern fuels, sea water, etc. I would be less confident about UV issues, but as our tanks are under-deck, I don't think that's a consideration.

We do, however, have to be concerned with the hoses leading to and from our tanks. The average lifespan of them is normally 10-15 years. (I replaced all my hoses when I had my deck off, (2015) and truthfully they all looked good. I just figured it was cheap insurance to replace them since they were so easy to access).

That’s what I’m learning too D.

I had the hoses changed when I got the Etec so I should be good for years.

D - if you have pics of below deck / tank stringers etc it would be interesting to see how it was built in 96’

These are the only ones I have, mostly to show the saturated foam. Hope they help.

What amount of glass did the factory appear to use to encapsulate the stringers ?

Not sure what you mean? The glass you see in the pics goes all the way down to the hull. it's a rough woven type but I know just about nothing about glass. I know it's not chopped and sprayed, more like a mat, but I have no idea how thick or number of coats.
