Well we got out a little late this morning ( too much fun @ the cook outs the night before ::)) and headed up river to see if we could find any bunker. The wind was blowing around 10-15 straight down the bay/river so it was not ideal conditions. Up the river we could see a pierce boat?, and a line of boats of its bow, ARK Bait!!! = Live Bunker. WE joined the line and with in 20 minutes the floor of the V was filled with flopping Bunker ;D ;D. Into the live well they go, and off to a few spots we go. Most of the planned spots we intended were all blown out and I tried hugging the shore line and ended up banging into a boulder :-X :-/. We were only crawling and as soon as I saw it coming I cut the engine and lifted it up, nothing else I could do but cringe :-[. Shortly after we tried a spot that @ 1st I was not to excited about as it was directly in the path of the wind, but the only + side was it was a good ¼ mile drift over mussel beds and rocks no deeper than 20ft and no shallower then 6ft ( I was staying away from the shallows this time ) 8)
Well 1st drift we did not have a bump or a scared bunker, but we decided to try one more time, GAME ON!!! Non stop action for the next 2 hours with not one short fish *or blue fish landed! *It is an absolute Blast to watch stripers chase the bunker to the top and absolutely explode on them!! We had a few monsters follow hooked fish right to the boat. What a way to get the season rolling!!! limited out quick with fish from 16 to 27lbs and landed a few monsters that temped the devil with in to cull, but I new that was not worth the jinx/hex that could /will follow. ![]()
