Default Throttle/Shift Cables

My throttle cable has a cracked shroud right where it enters the rubber grommet on the front of motor. It is starting to get rusty causing idle & shifting problems. It is getting bound at the rusty spot not allowing the RPM's to adjust down to idle after coming off a plane or just shifting out of gear into neutral.

My question is where should I get the replacement cables? And what brand is best?

The motor is an '04 Yamaha 150 2-stroke. It has the Yamaha premium flush side mount boat control, mfg. part # 6X0-48206-12-00.

Thanks!
Blue

I ain't all hung up on replacing all w/factory parts...but in this case, why not get 'em from a Yammy dealer...seein as how it's Yammy on both ends...

Blue, I hope I'm not over simplifying stuff. Not sure about the Yamaha but the cables are about as common as spark plugs.
Our local boat places, hardware stores even Bass Pro (online) carries them.
Usually we get Teleflex stuff, they have a 3300 series (universal) made for Yamaha and others. See if the ends are the same as yours.

TELEFLEX makes most of the OE cables for the manufacturers to begin with. WEST MARINE, EBAY, and just about any boat parts store can order them for you. They most likely make them with factory ends and would be a direct swap.

go ahead and splurge and get the "supreme cables". I've used the Uflex cables, they aren't as nice as the teleflex supreme, but they sure cost a lot less, and they get the job done.

See? This is why I ask....now I'm E-D-U-M-A-C-A-T-E-D!

So should I pull the old cables to get the length or just measure using the formula? Probably doesn't make a whole heck of a lot of difference either way huh?

I'd pull the old ones or try to get a part # to cross reference the length. Don't want your cable to be an inch too short if ya know what I mean.
