Default Quick Fix......I hope.

Well as some of you may alreay know, from my last posting on Lefty's Dat out on the V, I mentioned how I was loosing rpm's, then would stall out, then the ball wouldnt pump fuel. You all did "READ" that I hope and just didnt look at the Pics. of Lefty I hope. *>:( *;D

Well I yanked off the old ball and cheap filter behind the ball, but found that the inside of the fuel line was breaking down. I was finding bits of hard plastic falling out of the fuel line. Of course...this is the one and only hose that I never replaced on the V. So with a new ball and fuel line, hopefully the problem is fixed. Also installed a 10 micron filter. Always thought I had a 10, but it was a 20.....until I finally read the box. I was also surprised to find some small junk floating in the fuel. So hopefully the 10 micron filter will help out better then the 20. Right *???

Old line and ball.

Just my $.02, but I always double clamp all fuel lines. Wouldn't even consider wire ties. Just personal preference.

Default : Quick Fix......I hope.

Airslot,
I called the guy who did my welding on my dive platform again today, he finally answered his cell phone. Say's he's really busy. So as usual I dont know when he will be doing the otherside. Once he shows up, I'll yank off my platform and you can have it. I just dont know when. :-[ He only lives a few blocks from me. Sometimes wonder if my money isnt green enough for him. :-[ :-/

Responce from my boat repir guy: You guys had me worried about my gas color. Hmm as Jim stated, I am using a cheaper West Marine oil mixture. :-/

of course its discolored your putting oil in it LOL, just kidding

the gas looks fine, its going to take on the color thats in the oil that your using. but i can tell your not using johnson/evinrude oil. looks like it might be quicksilver.

hopefully its not some cheap west marine or walmart oil,

the color is not what i look at, its the clarity of it? is it cloudy on the bottom? are there dirt particles in bottom of jar?
does it stink like old gas? yours looks fine.

the hose on the other hand is rotten. ive been replacing the line from "TANK" to "MOTOR" lately along with a new ball and filt.
and i use oem balls not the cheap tempo ones they dont seem to last.

remember under deck is supposed to be CG A-1 fire resist. line not that silver ****, a-1 is thicker and heavier and black in color.

i have it in stock and sell it, also 10 micron filts. prob cheaper than west marine. i told ya to stop by the shop! ive been thru cases of filters this year and 100's of feet of line,

also whenever you fill up use stabil (which i also have )hint,
e-10 starts to deteriate 30-60 days from manufacture. its a month old by the time its at the station.

1 qt. oil to 12 gal. gas is fine (50:1) i got to go to the inlet today but ill be at shop thursday stop by if your off and bring the damn boat, we,ll check it over for ya OK.

JIM

p.s. our next lecture will be on "Phase Seperation" of E-10 fuel
when the water content of the fuel reaches .49% and causes
percipitation of the alcohol allowing it to fall out of solution
