Default rub rail

i want to replace the rope in my rub rail on my 1985 v-20, does anyone know what kind and or size rope this requires? bb

Bob, I replaced mine last year...I don't know what kinda rub-rail ya got so can't tell ya size....start at transom and take about a foot or so out and take to rope store for sizing...I would not use a 100% cotton rope...other than that it's up to you...Mine had a white twisted rope in it and I went back w/a gray braid... ;D...

my hull is an '86, the rub rail itself is black and the rope insert is no less than 5/8's of an inch, maybe even 3/4

its a black rubber with a rope in it. i theink it may be 5/8 or 3/4 , but i would like to try and get a red rope to match my encloser.not sure yet where to get this rope and or what material the rope should be made of. bb
