Maybe a possibility to replace my dead Merc. Anyone with experience with one? Any info is appreciated.

The DT is the two stroke 140. I've heard they were reliable, but I have no personal experience with one. I do remember people snapping up the DT's when they were dropped from production, so those motors did have some fans.

I aked over on THT awhile back about them, the only real down side that was posted was that they are a little lacking on the bottom end for getting the boat on plane. But with the EFI they were supposed to be decent on fuel.

Can't read the capacity plate on my 83 V20. What is the max engine weight that I can hang off the transom? It already rides pretty low with my old 175 Merc?

200 on most, there are a few that say 225 also. I have 175 and think they a perfect match ;)

The SUZUKI 140 is pretty light by modern standards. You should lose a few pounds by going to the 140.

I am also looking at one of these. I am dropping down from a 200HP. Do you think the 140 is underpowered for the V? I love Suzuki products. I had a Suzuki motorcycle and it ran like a beauty.

I am running a Johnson 140 4stroke which is a Suzuki DF 140 painted white. It is great on my V-20. Top speed with my old prop (19 pitch) was 40 mph (gps). I just put on a 21 pitch prop which lowered my cruising rpm by 400-500 rpm however I haven't done a top speed run. (The ICW was so full of boats I couldn't open her up).

Oh, I get about 5 mpg as well. ;D
