Default lobster Boats

Any of you boys from new england know much about these boats? I've been seeing more and more every year out here way off shore plodding along around 18 MPH with 4 or 5 guys comfortably fishing in go fast sport fishie country and have always liked the utility beefy looks of them. I was fueling up my buddies sport fishie the other night and a guy tied up behind me with a 32 footer and gave me a tour. I was amazed at how much space especially down below, 2 full sized bunks, all kinds of under bunk storage,I'm 6'5 250 and had plenty of side to side room and could stand up. a big V head area where you could actually stand up to Pis2. This one had a huge single cat inboard , a large in deck fish box , live well ,heavy duty thick glass and cabin , fresh and salt water washdowns , a sink, small stove, lots of rod storage, built in coolers etc. I dont know where gas prices are going to go but to my way of thinking these things are the real deal and who needs all the bells and whistles..I would guess that they are a semi displacement type hull and they are very wide and stable. What companies build them and has anyone ever fished off one of them? Frank

Here's a "Willis Beal" I've been drooling over recently.

The only one I've ever fished was a 42' Bruno & Stillman out of Montauk many moons ago, called "Sea Doll". Boat was actually on "American Sportsman" in the 70's for a shark fishing episode. Had a single 671 turbo diesel and did about 18kts. HUGE teak cockpit, loved that boat.

Here's a 42 Bruno out of Montauk, possible it's the old Sea Doll???

One of the few boats that could pull me away from the PD would be a "lobster yacht." But only if I come into some big $$$. ;D To my eye, there's nothing finer. Wasque and Fortier are drop dead gorgeous, and I'd take one if I could. But if I could go all-out I'd buy one from one of the many small Maine yards.

Great post, Tin -- you've given ME lots to read! ;)

Well, CB you lost me on the gas engine. *I'd have to have a diesel in one of those. *Just wouldn't be right without those fumes!

Oh baby, didja see one of those mjm yatchs in Tin's post? Whoa!! Where can I get one of these! I'm having trouble concentrating on work right now ;D

Yeah, I hear ya on the gas part. Still a beautiful boat though that a diesel could be dropped into down the road a bit.

Tin: Hey thanks much for the info. Holy Shi# those are nice boats and excellent links about them. I will need to win the NC lottery to buy one but they are still a bargain compared to comparable sport fishies and who cares how fast they go. I guess I will have to act fast to win the lottery as the anti Devil forces here in North Carolina are trying everything they can to repeal it and save us from the fires of damnation...I cant wait until they try to outlaw Jack Daniels which we all know is also the work of the evil devil...Frank

Oh no you don't, Old Jack has nothing to do with the devil, after spending many an afternoon checking into the matter I have it on good sources that it is actually heaven sent, I even heard voices at one point letting me know 8)

Oh man! The Sisu 22 has been one of my favorite and here's one local! I like the diesel inboard but a Honda 50 on a bracket sounds very reliable and minimum maintenance. What do you think she would cruise at with the 50?

asking $12,900 which APPEARS to be a good deal.
