Default Evinrude e-tech

Last month ESPN did a redfish tournament here in Beaufort and I ran one of three camera boats for the first day. It was a Mako 21 with a 200 e-tech and I have to say that I am VERY impressed. Quiet, light for its size, no expensive dealer required maintenance schedules ,very fast and good mileage. It was howling so the boats did not run out much and I only put 86 miles on it which took 30 gal to fill it up which puts it in the 4 stroke fuel economy range..I think?. My old 225 johnny would be at least 50 gal or more as my 24 is heavier and the carbed 225 is a much thirstier motor. I also came away with a different impression of tournament fishermen. These guys were polite, careful of their wakes, made sure that they did not hog the ramps and parking lots or try to push the locals out of their fishing holes like a lot of the Bass pro guys do. I was assisgned to a big chain saw manufacturers boat and I can tell ya these guys can fish and regardless of all the stickers and endorsements the trounament was won with berkleys gulp shrimp on small red or white jig heads in less than 2 feet of water....Frank

i have herd that they are very good engines i a thinkin of replacing my twin outboards on my big boat with them the 225 ways less than a yamaha 150 so they are wery light and still have the preformance of a two stroke and all the good things of a fourstorke. plus you dont need to take them to the dealer for 3 full years after you buy them no breakin period and if you run out of oil you cant damage the engine.

If BRP had the 150, 175, 200 series Es out when my Evinrude bit the dust, there'd probably be a 200 hangin' on the transom instead of the Honda... ;) ...

I know nothing about 4 strokes but I have a friend with a 19 Mako and a 130 Honda and he loves it but had to install tabs as its so heavy . It is very reliable but it has very little get up and go but it gets good mileage and is quiet. He had had an old 140 johnson which was a much faster and lighter motor so he should of went with something bigger in my opinion...He said that the required service is a $$$$ killer...frank

i agree to i like four strokes but like two strokes better because they put out more power. they do this becuase the cylinder on a four stroke puts out power every other rotation a two stroke puts out power on every rotation.

but this engine is sopposed to be a 2 stroke with all the 2 stokes good things and all the 4 stroke things here is a link
