| Tongue weight?

I know with a subject like this I'm about to get some amusing answers. *I did a search on this subject but did not get the result I'm looking for. *What is the approx tongue weight for a V20. *I understand there are many variables that why its approx. *Thanks Bill Mc ;D I'm looking to replace my jack. I like this one but wonder if I'm over killing it. http://www.boatersworld.com/webapp/w...9257%3Bc343694

Here you go: http://www.sherline.com/lmbook.htm#refrn9 I'd say the jack is probably overkill, but better than not enough. It does have the most lift travel out of the rest which is nice to get the bow up.

there is an equation used....I think for highway speeds you want about 5% - 7% of your gross wieght as your tounge weight.....and Mac that jack is plenty for your boat

you show be able to pick the boat up by the tongue but it should be heavy to pick up. I can pick up the tongue of the trailer under the 25 ft Sea Ray i have. That is adjusted by the location of the axles under the boat. you can move the boat forward for more tongue weight or move it back for less and the opposite for the axles move them forward for less and back for more. ou want the trailer to carry the weight not the truck.

skools, I'd say that is probably too little tounge weight, for me any way, don't think I could lift 10-15% of the load. Wouldn't about 400 lbs. fit in there? I added a link to my above post, make sense to me, too little weight and won't you have some swaying???

Tin, I like the scale you posted...my rig is 4600lbs on tandem trailer...12%=550lbs and I THINK I'm close to that...recently moved my slider-axle assembly BACK 2'' to add tongue weight...worked well as ''fish-tailing'' stopped immediately... ;)... Skool, I don't THINK I'll be liftin' mine and the above addition just got it to where it ''tracks'' properly...which goes to show, ''rules of thumb'' are great, but it boils down to individual situations...I know you know what I'm talkin' about... ;) ;D... Mac, I like ''overkill''...keeps ya from havin' to ''kill'' again later.... ;D...

Hey Phester...yeah, my shortest trip is 1 1/2 hours to closest fishin' hole...5 hours to coast and did 11 hours to Fla. panhandle this past summer...I'm a ''towin' fool!''...

I guess I was off a bit on the 5-7 %....that link that the TinMan put up means I should have ,in round #'s, 300lbs of t.w. As it is now I've probably got around 150....seems ok, never had it on the highway at 55. When I first bought the boat the t.w. was probably around 25lbs. ....WAY to little

RAP you're a towin' madman, don't want to rub it in too much, but, my ramp is 1.2 miles away.....good ramp, the channel itself needs to be dredged, can't come in at dead low
