Default Question for you horse power addicts

I was a t a buddies house last week, he does not boat or fish, he does build and race circle track cars though, anyway in his garage under a tarp I found a BRAND NEW Mercruiser 454, yes brand new, not rebuilt, it was bought at an auction at Century Boats and he traded some stuff for it, no out drive just the engine. Does anyone have an idea what this thing might be worth, he want to sell it and asked me for help. Skools, i bet you could shoe horn it into a V20 ;D

I am sure with a little work you could get it in there, but that will leave you no room for repairs and maintance!!

The out drive will have to be built and geared for that moptor (about $1500+) and then what the heck you going to do with all that power??

V20 Hull was never ment to be a speed demon and unless you are on a pond you will never be able to open her up!! The Hull just can't take that much speed at even a small chop with out hamering like crazy!!

Nopoe for that kind of coin i would repower with outboard and bracket or a nice V6 or even a V8 (350 max)

well thats 0.02 worth ;D

Mirage

Go to Bayshore Power site at:
http://www.bayshorepowermarine.com/pages/12/index.htm

take a look at their pices ... go from there.
Ask for 1/2 to 2/3 what they want...
Wait for warmer weather (March 1st) to start advertizing...

How complete is engine? is it a drop in and run? Where is it?
How long has he had it?

Cbill

there was a V20 on ebay recently that had a 454 Merc in it with a Bravo3 outdrive.

That motor if 100% complete drop in go should bring 5500 to 7500. is it fuel injected of carbed version?

I am not sure how long he has had it, if I remeber correctly it is EFI and it is pretty much a drop in engine...no alternator, and no risers but pretty much complete
