Default tongue weight

What should my trailer tongue weight be - dual axel trailer - 1996 V20 and 115 hp Evin.? Is it max 5% of outfit weight? I think the outfit maybe weighs 4000? So 200 lb max?

So would my 1996 V20 and 115 DI evinrude dual axel trailer weigh 4000 lb or would it be lighter? If it is 4000 I am looking at 400 lb - seems heavy for TW? I know the way she is she seems to weigh down the springs on my 1985 Chev K10 4x4 truck? I thought I had too much tongue weight? When I come to florida she will be behind a truck/camper - the truck is a 1989 ford F250 with 1 ton under gear (was built for 5th wheel) 460 motor. Lots of power and heavy springs. I was looking at getting a 5000 lb hitch like a reese. No hitch at present.

That truck is pleanty!! I have a 1500 Chevey and it tows like nothing there.

The boat is about 2500 + 400 motor 1000 trailer, 65 gal gas 500 = 4400 # plus gear.

so 10% 440 tounge weight.

That truck is all you need, if the springs are weak you may need to add a leaf or something??
