the price seems to be pretty good but I wonder did it get sunk in the Hurricane? He has good feedback but none of them are from buyers. Let me know what you think. Are Mercury 4 strokes good motors? thanks |

Looks good, reel is the one to ask about this, but he is on Vacation now.
Seems to me he can do better then $2800 for a 1999? Take it from me, never buy it unless you can hear it first!!!!!!! If it is to far from you, and you can't get anyone to look at it for you, then pass! Been there done that! Good Luck!!

Personally I don't think you will like a 130 honda on a V-20. They are very heavy for the power they provide.

I agree!!
I50 2 stroke is the smallest I would go, and Reel says he likes his Honda but it is sluggish? So a 10 might be slow but if you like slow then its the one for you! I want a 250 on mine! I have a need for speed! ;)

I really don't mine slow that much.
I really just want reliablity. I know that wellcraft sold v20 with as little as 115hp two strokes when new. I think the 130 will work but I am not into speed I just wonder if the engine is damaged some how. Even at $2800 he has to be making a profit. Who would sell a good working honda 4 stroke for under $2500. I believe that this motor was stripped off of a hurricane boat. In Hampton Roads most of these shops want more that $2500 for 10+ year old 2 strokes. If anyone knows of some good cheap 4 stroke power let me know. thanks |

Well just cause it seems weird for that price don't over look it!! If it is close enough go take a look, what you got to lose??
Get a compression tester from auto zone $25 or rent it for free. Do the test, crack the lower unit to make sure there is oil not water in there. Start it up, make sure she idles good , runs smooth, pumps water. I bet up here I could get $4000 for it!

honda has had issues with the aluminum spacer under the powerhead and if they or when they get wet they start to rub wear on the crank and block till you have a lower crank seal bad in the block. the only fix is to pull the powerhead and reseal then replace the aluminum spacer with an aftermarket replacement made of bronze. wouldn't suggest a honda.
