Default Had to let them go

Me and SP went out 1-11-07 and tried some fishing even though it didn't look to promising. It blew two days before so the water was stirred up pretty good not to mention it was 26 degrees when I woke that morning.

Headed out around the concrete ships and drifted a few eels. After a couple of hours and two missed fish, there he was, ZINNNNNNNNNNNG goes the drag. All hooked up and fighting my first rock, my blood was pumping. Think now, you have been taught by one of the best fishermen on the Shore, let the drag do its job, keep the line tight, wind down and pull up.

After what seemed 30 minutes, he finally shows him self, just off from the boat, silver flash and Zinnnnnnnng there he goes again. He walked me up one side of the boat and down the other, under the bow and around the motor. Finaly he is tired and gets closer to the boat, Holy cr*p thats a big fish. I bring him close and SP gets him in the net.

Being so excited we forgot to measure this one.

After getting rebaited and the lines over, I was still excited about that fish that I did not hear the drag pouring off the reel right next to me. "There he is, stick him" Says SP. I grab the rod and do as I was taught and again, ZINNNNNNNNNNG. this one fought harder but was smaller then the first. We measure this one at 44 Inches but did not weigh.

These were the only two caught that day but what nice fish they were, especially considering my first.

I have told him many times that day but I want to say it again, Thanks Shore Power for a trip to remember.

Turbo, congrats man. I'm happy for ya cause I know this has been a time coming. Did ya happen to get your paper? Pretty work. Seems that the fish have finally moved away from that spot, or maybe the bait is too stirred up right now, but not much happenening there. I'm hoping to get the boat wet this weekend, but 15-20 tommorow ain't lookin pretty.

Pretty work guys,

Airslot

Your welcome! Sorry we didnt slay them like some of my other trips this month, but like I told you before we left, I thought the wind & rain might have the water stired up & murky. And was it ever murky! The murky water always makes the daylight eel deal less productive. Im just glad I was able to get you hooked up on a few nice quality fish before they left the area and the winter doldrums set in. :-/

Spring is just around the corner though, and many red & black drum will be pictured on this fishing report board then. 8)

PEACE!

Airslot: I really think there are still some fish to be had down there near Kipto. but the water was just so messed up the bite was way off and will be until the wind lays out for a few days and there are a few tide changes to clear up the water. I tell you what though Im just about done fishing my open CC for the year. It was like 26 degrees yesterday morning and we were dressed like eskimos. That didnt used to bother me, but my Challenger had curtains at least and the new Maritime Skiff does not. I might have one more trip left in me but Im just about ready to put the cover on my boat until spring and jump on board a friends ride for some seabassin or something.

It was cool watching Durwood pull on those fish. How many guys can say their first ever striper was a 45 / 46 inch fish! ::)

I know how ya feel there SP, as most know I just got my curtains. Your right, until the water temp drops below 45 those fish will hang in that area, but the ocean bite is on right now. I was going today, but the 15-20SW changed my mind. I like to enjoy fishing, not hang on for dear life. Perry could only make 14 kts coming home yesterday and that was in the 50'er. Have to see if Momma will let me out Sunday am.

Air: My buddy John fished out of Kiptopeake today and said it was dead again right off the concrete ships. He ran out in the Ocean and up the shore and found lots of nice fish though.
