Default 6/16/07 Murrell's Inlet SC Report - Kings!

Got up around 6 am. *Me and Corey, one of his friend's Josh, brother-in-law Robin and my nephew Ross who is 9.

Marked a spot on GPS the night before for "Belky Bear" which is about 15 miles off. *Got slightly diverted by reports of big kings on the beach and trolled up the beach for over a half hour with 1 micro spanish mac to show for it. *

Finally pulled the lines in and ran to Belky and it was a good thing. * Put lines in the water and on our 1st pass had 2 on! *Landed one and hook pulled on the other at the side of the boat! Bummer!

Then it was a slow pick of about 1 every 45 minutes. *We ended the day at 2:30pm with 4 keepers to 32" fork length, 2 throw backs of about 23" or so with one more nice keeper lost during the fight.

6 for 8 with 4 keepers. *Not bad!

I got more pics...will update post when I have time....
Yours Truly *;D

Ross caught 2 of the 4 keepers - way to go lil man!

Guttin one with my $9.99 Storm electric fillet knife! *Works pretty good even cuts through bone *;)

Nice job BR! Those are some fine lookin Kings.

What'd you get em on?

I hope the weather holds for for me this week, headed down to HB tomorrow after work and staying through Friday. Spending one day working on the V and the other catching something that swims.

Just about all of em were caught on a Yozuri Crystal Minnow in black/gold. I have pix of the lure I will post. Its all scratched up! Its one of the bigger sizes of the crystal minnow bout 6 or 7 inches long. Caught a couple on the #2 planer with larger (don't know #) Clarksp oon. I ran a spread of 6 rods with 2 being flatlines close to the boat, 2 on planers and 2 crystal minnows in the back. I was scared to try for larger kings because they will not fit in my fish box plus I don't like the taste as good as the smaller ones. It was fun ;)

I can't believe how much the small kings look like Spanish with the spots. Those 2 we threw back I had to do a double take but there was no black on the pec fin so I know they were schoolie kings and not spaniards. Wish I'd taken pix but wanted to get them back in the water.

Oily - yes. The bigguns are pretty nasty but I hear smoking them helps. The smaller ones are PDG - Pretty Darn Good!

Willy come on down brother! ;)

P.S. I got some better "blood pix" just been too busy to post. Trust me though I will post some more fish pix - guaranteed!
