Default Near Bout A Problem.

Lake testing the center console Sat. I was coming into the dock and the motor wouldn't throttle down to idle. It would only go down to about 1200 rpm. Still sounded good but could not pull the throttle back to neutral so I turned back to the side of the lake and killed the ignition. Removed the cowl and started messing with the linkage. All appeared normal, nothing fouling the throttle plates. Took the throttle cable loose at the adjustment point. Started her up and the same result. Giggled the control and accidentally crashed her into reverse. Ouch! Discovered the shift cable is held in place by the throttle cable and lever I had taken off minutes earlier.(Fiddlesticks) I also found the jam nut on the throttle stop to be loose. The adjustment bolt had worked its way in while cruising around, keeping the throttle from going back to its normal resting place at idle and putting the throttle cable in a bind.(Because it couldn't reach the end of its normal travel, the shift cable wasn't reaching neutral) After I sorted it out and was ready to go I held my breath putting the boat in gear. It shifted fine, I think I dodged a bullet. It's time for some red locktite...
