Default Upcoming problem?

I have been taking my 1991 V20 cuddy out at least 1 day every weekend for the last 5 or 6 weekends. I am boating on inland lakes, and spend most of my time pulling kids on the water toys and skis. I have a 2007 Mercruiser 4.3 litre carbureted engine with a 1991 Alpha One outdrive. The boat has been running very nicely. However, on pretty much random instances when I throttle down to get the tube/skier up, the engine will bog down to idle, but not die. Then, after all is set to give it another go, the motor runs just fine.

Tank was drained and cleaned in 2007, and fuel filter replaced annually since. I have not done any other "tuneup" type of maintenance to it. Any thoughts on what I should be looking at and doing would be appreciated.

accelerator pump or check ball . you have to take carb apart to get to the ball and spring holding the ball down. sometimes you have to pick out the ball you could test this pump and ball out by seeing if any gas squirts inside the carb . you dont even need the motor running to see .you will need someone to give full throttle or disconnect linkage and move the throttle

I will recommend you run some Marine Sta-Bil through it and post the results. I use this stuff year round on my Evinrude and also in my Chevy Silverado 70 K miles and never a miss on the engine my friend allow me to add some to his BMW tank he now swears by the product.

I will try some more Stabil. I always put it in as part of winterizing, then another shot in the spring. I have had fresh gas in it though and I am sure all the residual stabil has been through the system, so a refresher dse might help. Thanks!

Use the new Sta-Bil that's made for Ethanol. And you might want to try a shot of SeaFoam in the gas also..

I would first try throttling UP to get the skier up...

OK, I know.

When you say change the fuel filter, do you mean the water separator? I change mine every year...

Yeah, talking about the water separator. It was changed this spring. I change it every year.
