Default Reinstalling windshield

Have a 1976 Step 20, Cuddy that I have been process of fixing it up for several years. Transom was rebuilt. All of the fiberglass has been fared, primed and painted. 90% of the plumbing and wiring has been completed. New hull liner has been installed. Pulpit had been fabricated and installed. Half top with outriggers will be installed soon.
Now it is time to reinstall the windshield and need your suggestions. The gaskets on the bottoms of the windshield are no longer any good. As you will recall the gasket is about 3/8 of an inch wide. What would you suggest I use for a gasket? Also, the aluminum frames are pitted and dull. What would you suggest I do to make the aluminum look better?
All suggestions are welcome.

One rubber that can be use is at the local hardware store, Garage door bottom seal? You can cut it to size? Try a good brand aluminium polish/cleaner like this

For the pitted dull metal I always use aluminum brite. Its great on aluminum, but due it when the frame is apart and rubber is out. this stuff is acid based.
