| JohnRude voltage regulator

I searched this subject and figured I'd try to get a little more engine specific info by starting a new thread. Engine is a 1990 EVINRUDE 225. Voltage gauge was pegged past 16 volts earlier this summer. I've recently done some work to the engine including a new stator. Engine reads 13 volts while running off the hose in the driveway. In the water up on a plane and moving it now reads about 16 volts, still high, but not pegged like before. I've tried turning on accessories, but the only one that really drops the voltage down to 13-14 is the trim motor. All battery connections are clean and tight. My clymer manual mentions recitifier/regulators for my engine, but doesn't get into specifics or show any pictures. I'm guessing I need a new regulator(?), but wondering where it is located, and what it looks like, and if it's a pain in the arse to replace. If any V20 motorheads care to guide me in the right direction I'll buy the beer. Thanks!!
