How do you think it rides with that Suzuki 140? Is a 140 not enough power for the V?

It is a 2000 DT140 with around 500 hours, 2 stroke. I am dropping down from a 200HP Yamaha so I know I will feel a large power difference. But usually I am driving in choppy water (LI) so I am not going that fast plus I wouldn't find the better gas mileage. The Yami sucks on gas. Think I will have trouble getting on a plane with the 140? Thanks!!! |

Someone should look at that boat, she looks like she might be in nice shape!! Motor might be a different story?? 140 will get you on plane, the trick with the lower HP motor is to make sure she is proped right!! But 150's are perfect match for these and you only off by 10, you will be fine!

I think the 140 should be perfect (hopefully). I never new that propping it right could make such a difference. I think my yami is propped wrong. These are two of the props that the guy is offering: -13 5/8x15 (michigan wheel ballistic) -13.25x18 (Suzuki stock) From reading these boards I see that a 15X15 seems to be popular so I'll probably just buy a new one once I get the engine. But I have to take one so which seems a better fit for the V? |

Most here use a 17 pitch, I like a 15 pitch on mine, but thats me. 15 will give you more hole shot, less top end, 17 will give you less hole shot, but better top end, pick your poision! 17 I use to go 42 or so , with the 15 I just can make 40 with a light load and trimed. I guess I lost 3 or 4 MPH on the top. But you should be going by your tac to figure out whats the best. exsample if your motor is wot at 5000 to 5500 then you need a prop that will get you in that range at wot, then you can adjust for fine tuning after. a 200 hp will take different then a 140 hp
