Very slow fuel fill...

I filled my full tank with $4.559 fuel on Saturday and it took for ever to pump about 42 gal.
My 1994 cener console has never been able to accept the fuel at full flow for long without the fuel backing up on me , but now it's exceptionaly slow . I checked the gas vent and it does not seem to be stopped up . Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be ?

either the vent is clogged or is has a crap location on the tank, b/c i doubt your fill has a blockage.

I agree with cterr,You must have something clogging the vent,try blow it clear with an air line not too much pressure though!!!

I had the same problem......and my suggestion is REPLACE IT. was not that hard or expensive. works great now.

I may try to replace it after work on day this week . I can't think of anything else it could be . Thanks ....

mine did the exact same thing, I sold it before the time came to pull it apart. Tell you my thoughts, I think the vent is marginal in size to begin with and probably is not located well on the tank, especially when on a trailer and tilted back a little. Mine would blow fuel out the vent if I went to fast with the pump.
I was going to do two things which I believe would have taken care of the problem, first change out the vent fuel line and insure no blockage at the fitting, second I would relocate the vent thru hull higher on the top of the gunnel just forward of where the current vent fitting is located. I also would insure that the bend in the vent line wasnot enough to allow air to escape without forcing fuel thru the line first
