Default Liner question....(W/ Pics!)

Ok, so while I was cleaning up around the transom I started looking pretty close at the corners I cut out. Am I correct in thinking that what I see on the inside of the boat is really a liner made off the hull then glassed into it? I only ask because there are places it is seperating.

It didn't take much effort to pull this out :(

I noticed that the liner seems to only be glassed in from where the cap meets the hull down about 4 to 6 inches. At this point I'm thinking of removing the liner because I'm concerned about the seperation I already see. Plus I wanted to redo the floor and layout (especially the cabin area) so being able to remove the whole liner make work out better for me in the end, although it looks to add a lot more work to my current project. The only real concern I have is I also realized there is a void between the liner and hull after the fiberglass that holds the two peices together ends. Does this void add some strength to the boat? What would happen if I were to match the thinkness of the fiberglass for the liner but not put the void back in? I think a call to someone at Wellcraft who is familar with the old v20 construction may be in order...anyone have any suggestions, input, or contacts with Wellcraft?

Thanks!
