Replacing a 150 with a 1998 225 johnson 2 stroke carb motor. How much pitch do I need with a 3 blade alum? How fast will it go?

Skools, most of us with 150's will twist a 17p to max rpm's. I'd say 19p if not 21' for the 225 boys.

My 225's all have 17's on them except 1 it has a Merc 19 Offshore stainless prop. The 225 off Boater93's boat has a 15 x 17 Mich. Stainless Prop.
HEY BOATER93 WHERE ARE YOU lol. What was your WOT RPM's with the old 225?

My current prop was off my 225 Merc, however that was on a 24' boat (1997 Sea Ray Laguna). *It works perfectly on my 150. *My 150 came with a 17'' on the V20 when I bought it. *Both props are the same diameter. *

THis is intresting. Looks to me like once you get to 150 hp that the advantage of more power falls of very quickly on these hulls. If the gear ratio's are the same and you can't turn more prop, why bother?

I would think a 21" pitch for a 225, maybe a 19" ???

Second post here, but ive owned a few boats and these wellcrafts are a bit different, Id suggest a 20 pitch baypro 2 stilletto. For what ever reason they respond very well to that type of prop( lots of stern lift)
