We have caught our share off VA beach this year and with this cold front they are starting to move south. Its still a quicker run from Va Beach at about 10 miles. If your interested in fishing in that area check out tidalfish.com they give good fishing reports from that area.

Thanks RAP - I've been seeing the reports. You know me, I have to know what's going on. I usually get a picture of what's going on by going to 4 or 5 sites a day and getting reports. As you know, striper fisherman don't like to tell you much, especially the charters but some are better than others when it comes to info.

So, all a inland rec like me can do is read as many reports as possible and fabricate their own idea of what's happening.

From what I've gathered, its exactly as you say - 40 to 45 mile run from OI then its hit or miss - one day balls to the wall limit out in 15 minutes and next day hunt and peck and hopefully scrape out a limit. Problem is your fishing time is severely limited when you have to do so much running. :-/

Check out these pics from one of my ol standby charter sites. This guy said screw it and moved his boat from OI to Rudee this year. Looks like its paying off too. These pictures truly beat all I've ever seen! You can see each individual fish in the school! Musta been an awesome site. Lately he's been catching over 100 fish a day.

By the way, when we were down Dec. 15th, the spot we ran to is exactly where the bite is happening right now. * *;) *Sure wish they'd mobilize and head south.

Also, my fishing buddy with the Grady just found out he's got 3 hemmoraged [sp?] disks in his lower back and possibly a pinched nerve. * That makes 2 of my best fishing buddies are down on thier back *:'( * I'm really bummed about it.

Also, Still Running has it right - we need to hit Rudee Inlet out of VA. Closer to the action!
