Default Life of the gas tank

I am wondering has anybody had any problems with the two side wall mounted gas tanks? The boat is now 26 years old and I am thinking I should replace the tanks. Doess anybody know where I can get them or is it now a custom built tank? how mush would it cost?

If they aint leaking, you may only need to clean em out. *Being an I/O you shouldn't have that much junk in them (as opposed to the oily gunk buildup in a tank used for premix O/B gas)

I know a couple of guys have discussed this before and had good posts about replacing them, do a search on "saddle tanks".

I still have my side tanks and still use them. Mine is 1975 thats 32 years!

Make sure you clean them well! I drained mine washed with degrease and set in the sun to dry!

One thing that messes up it the ck valves on top of the tanks. They are a little ball in a square fitting on the top of the tanks.
They corrode and get blocked up, there are more then a few that have had to remove these!
