Default Change cuddy to walk thru.

Has anyone ever changed a cuddy cabin to a walk thru with seats in the bow?

Wellcraft has. I don't know if anyone here has done it. Certainly it's possible, but I think it would be a lot easier, cheaper and faster to just buy a dual console V20

There are not many dual walk thru consoles in our area, plus I already have one center console and three other cuddys in the pasture. Its just a thought and it would give me more seating area for the family.

Have you thought about just building seats all over the CC?

I don't want to make permanent seat but I have looked at the Todd folding chairs. I thought it would be neat to have a bow rider for cruising around. I am going to ask my neighbor who builds boats on how difficult and what the cost would be.

Yeah...if you got a boat-builder next door, he would be a good source of info...by removing the top deck of the cuddy cabin you have now, you are eliminating the structural strength it provides in keeping your hull from flexing in and out like a big bellows...as long as what you put back replaces that ability to hold the sides of the hull in place as it takes on whatever oncoming water you drive it into, you should be OK...leave out that strength and you could have a problem on your hands...the fact that you have several on hand, hell...I'd go at it and see what happens...

Consider that once the top deck is removed you will add front walls to the two resulting consoles...those two walls, properly integrated to the floor deck and the sides of the hull should give it the strength it needs...Like RWilson said, post up pics as ya go along w/this project...

Thanks for the info reelapeeling I did not think about the consequences of removing the top cap. I will talk to my neighbor and see what he thinks. Thanks for all of the info.
