The bow pulpit is a little over an inch thick piece of teak wood. It is about 36" long so it goes all the way back to the splash dam that goes around inside of the bow and hangs out a little over a foot. I took out my bow cleat and got longer bolts so that it is still thru bolted in the deck, I used 12 more thru bolts, 6 on each side with a 1/4" thick x 2" wide piece of teak on each side as a backing plate with large washers in the rode locker. I also put in a closable rode chock so when the anchor is up I can screw the closure through the chain to hold up the anchor. I weigh 215lbs and I can hang and bounce off the tip of it when it is sitting in dry storage, so I figure that should be more than enough strength to hold my V20 when sipping on beers at the beach. I also took a couple of pieces of 1/4" x 2" teak and ran them down the center of the pulpit as a chain gaurd. It doesn't really do much, but I think it looks pretty damn good. I'll get some detailed pics up soon.
