Default Re: Deadliest Catch New Season Tonight

Neat show but did you know that the Alaska crab fishery is totally controled by a handful of seattle based families. They have all the permits and when a permit comes up for sale -not very often- they buy it to eliminate compatition. Ever wonder why king crab is so expensive. Its a good ole boy game. Its a government suported monopoly. Got to say the guys have big B***s. I seen the north pacific from the bridge of 18,000 cargo haulers. Worked for Matson way back. My dad was a deck officer on the Matson liner Maraposa. Thirty foot seas is the norm and 40 footers are common.Seen the bow buried and the screws pumping air and the deck of 450 foot ship totally awash up to the forecastle. No way I would put my butt on an 80/100 footer don't need $ that bad.
