Can't you just hang the motor on the transom instead of using a stand?
I also think people rely too much on compression tests. I bought a 90hp v4 Rude, tested the compression and it was fine. Could not get it running smoothly, pulled the heads and one piston spit a ring, piston had 2 rings and 1 was still intact so compression was good. Compression tests are not a guarantee the motor is good...at least in my case :-/
