It's not a heavy weight boat, and even if it were, for it's length you would only be using 3/16 PC (Proof Coil) chain with 3/8 nylon rope.
Personally, I like and use 1/2" nylon rope with 1/4 PC chain at the end, mostly because I like how it feels in my hands, NOT because of additional strength. Just pay attention to your line length (8:1 ratio) and you'll have no problems.
