I typed out a great post and then somehow screwed it up and it was lost... >:(
To make a long story short, the National Weather service lied to us! *We ran out ~25 miles before dropping our lines in. *We had our first small peanut albacore in 10 minutes. *Dean, Todd, Shea and myself went 36 miles out when the water became rough with a bad wind chop. *Lots of fog but no real swell. *Dean's 19' Trophy is NOT a dry ride so as the wind picked up we pulled the plug on the trip and headed for the barn at 10:30 AM with 6 tuna, bled and sitting in an ice slurry. *We stopped in calmer water 5 miles off shore and cut the loins from the fish. *After a lunch of Subway sandwiches, beer and a good BS session we headed into port. *I grilled alabacore on the BBQ tonight. *It was served with Janine's homemade mango/avacado/red bell pepper/cilantro/rice wine vinegar slasa as well as grilled artichokes and sautee'd bok choi from the garden.
I love the sight of a bloody deck.
Shea and an albacore. *I'm not sure whether Shea was craving fresh sashimi or looking for some albacore lovin'. *Either way, the fish looks a little creeped out.
Dinner! *Bad picture but you'll get the idea.
