Now I can believe that. My dad used to run a 16' dual console from 1980-1999 with a 70 hp Johnson. Never flushed it, changed the plugs and coils once and NEVER had a problem. He never even changed out the water pump on it!! I couldn't believe it when he told me that, but the old man was telling the truth. I would never NOT change out the plugs and water pump at least ever other year. I only flush mine in the colder months when I only run it to run it. I guess American made was better back then. :(
