Default BajaTime!

Well guy's, it's finally time for my long awaited fishing trip to Baja. *This trip has been planned for over a year. *I leave tomorrow with my brother to meet up with family and friends for almost a week of fishing aboard the Andrea Lynn. *The Andrea is one of the "panga-motherships" that run fishing and diving charters from San Felipe to the Midriff islands in the sea of Cortez. *On Friday our group of 20 will climb aboard a chartered bus in San Diego and head south of the border to San Felipe. *On Saturday morning we will board the ship and motor south through Saturday night. *When we wake up (sober up?) Sunday morning we will be almost 200 miles south and near the islands. *The Andrea will piggy back ~10 pangas (22 foot fiberglass skiffs). *After breakfast Sunday morning we will climb into the skiffs with our panguero and head off to the islands to fish or dive. *We'll return to the ship at noon for lunch then head out again in the afternoon to fish until sunset when we return for dinner. *At night we'll fish from the boat for bait and on one or two nights we'll hang the lights over the side and fish for giant humboldt squid. *The Andrea returns to port on the following Thursday and we'll make our way back to San Diego. *Wish me luck. *I plan to post a log of the trip when I get back.

Oh yes Mr. Hammer... there WILL be pictures.

Below is a map of Baja then an enlargement of the islands we'll be fishing. *I'll refer back to these maps when I post my reports later.

The picture below was taken last week aboard the Andrea and posted in the weekly Mexfish.com report. *My dad turned 76 last week. *He and mom are coming along and his dream is to land one of these.

MIDRIFF BIGGIES--A pair of large gulf grouper landed at La Vibora at the south end of Isla Angel de la Guarda aboard the San Felipe panga mothership Andrea Lynn last week.
