I have a Johnson 150 ocean runner with a 17p prop with 5 people & gear and flat lake I top out right around 40 - 42 mph. Not sure what it would be just 2 people and light gear.

You need to get some flares too (minimum of 3). Even if you aren't going into the ocean side you will still need flares, I got popped in Cedar Key for that last year you can get the hand held ones...
